FAQ proposal: "Why can't I stay logged into LiveJournal?"

We've gotten tons of these requests lately, and while it might be related to the "new" login code, I think a lot of it is problems with the individual browser setting. At any rate, we've developed some workarounds, and I think it's time for a FAQ so that we can stop typing out the same thing over and over and over again. Thoughts?


In order to remain logged into LiveJournal's website, your browser must accept cookies from livejournal.com. If you need help altering your browser's cookie settings, please consult the browser's help files.

Some users report problems with remaining logged into the site even when their browser accepts cookies. If you are one of these users, there are several steps you may wish to take:

-- Verify that your computer's date and time is correct. If your computer clock is significantly wrong, you will be unable to remain logged in.

-- Try using a different login mode. If you are using "Never Expire", try using "Session Only", and vice versa. You may wish to toggle back and forth several times between the login options on the login page ( http://www.livejournal.com/login.bml )

-- Try using the login box in the upper right hand corner of all system pages, rather than the page at http://www.livejournal.com/login.bml .

-- Try logging in while posting a comment (enter your login information while commenting and check the "Login?" box)
