FAQ #41 (https://www.livejournal.com/support/faq/41.html)

Changed things around. Removed instances of "bio page" and replaced it with "userinfo page". We originally referred to the userinfo.bml page as a user's "bio" but pretty much everywhere else, the "bio" is the "About Me" and the "userinfo page" is the entire page. I'm using "userinfo" and not "user info" or "User Info" because we use "userinfo" in the userpics FAQs. Consistency is nice.

FAQ #115

The phrasing
Be sure that the e-mail address used for your account is correct and validated by going to ( http://www.livejournal.com/editinfo.bml ).
right at the beginning of FAQ #115 seems to imply that editinfo.bml tells users if their e-mail address is validated. It doesn't, or have I missed it?

In the German translation, I've worded it something like this (back-translating to English):
At http://www.livejournal.com/editinfo.bml you can check that you have entered a valid e-mail address for use with your account. This address should also be validated, as is explained in the FAQ "How do I get validated? It says I'm currently not validated!" (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=11).

FAQ #73

This says that any images references from your domain are acceptable...
"references" should be "referenced".

RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|gif)$ - [F]
I would suggest to add "png" as well, since it's become a very common image file format on the web. Thus:
RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|gif|png)$ - [F]
(notice: This appears twice in the FAQ; once in the list of commands at the top, and once in their explanations at the bottom.) Additionally,
Finally, if all of the above conditions match, and the request ends in .jpg
or .gif, then deny it:
should then be extended to
Finally, if all of the above conditions match, and the request ends in .jpg, .gif or .png, then deny it:

I'm finding it a bit confusing that for the first half of the lines, their explanation comes after the quoted line, while for the second half, the explanation is in front. Perhaps those explanations should be moved underneath. Thus:
Note that "\." means a literal ".". A period by itself means any character.

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/okay_image\.jpg
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/okay_image2\.gif
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/another/okay_image3\.jpg
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/final/okay_image\.gif

These rules make sure all of your images that are okay to share don't get denied.

RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|gif|png)$ - [F]

This last line says that, if all of the above conditions match, and the request ends in .jpg, .gif or .png, then it should be denied.

That's it!

Change to FAQ 73

As a result of timwi's post here, I've edited FAQ #73 (How can I stop LiveJournal users from using my bandwidth by configuring my Apache server?). I've incorporated all of his suggestions. Additionally, I changed the email address they are supposed to contact from bradfitz@livejournal.com to webmaster@livejournal.com -- or should it remain bradfitz?

Before I make this change, I'd like for someone to look at it and make sure I caught all of the things that were to be changed. As soon as I know this is okay, I'll make the update.

(no subject)

Following on from this post by leora, I think we should add something about validation to FAQ 55 (How do I get started?). Something along the lines of...

Before you can create an account, you must obtain an account creation code, either from a current user or by purchasing a paid account. See http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=104 for more information.

Once you have an account creation code, you can create a journal at:

http://www.livejournal.com/create.bml

You'll then receive a "Welcome to LiveJournal!" email which will enable you to complete your journal creation by validating your email address. If you no longer have the validation link, or you never received it, you can have it sent to you by following the instructions in http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=11 . Your account is not fully functional until you successfully validate your LiveJournal.

Then blah, blah, blah....(rest of FAQ here)

I had a liquid lunch today so as F.R.David once said, "Words, don't come easy to me...", someone make this make sense please?
