Denoting account level-specific FAQs

Time to follow up on my last post on the subject of account level-specific FAQs. Point being that I'd like FAQs targeted at certain account levels - paid-only jojurnal customisations, for example - to have a little disclaimer at the top saying they only apply to those account levels.

Now that 6A actually has the new level names nailed down, it might be time to add these disclaimers as long as we're going through and changing the account level names. Having the disclaimer at the top of the FAQ means we don't have to keep mentioning "paid and permanent only" throughout the rest of the FAQ, and it's a Good Thing All Round™.

I've had a bit of a think as regards the content of the disclaimer, so I have an updated proposal. Because the disclaimer uses LiveJournal site scheme CSS, I'm going to put my proposed text Collapse )

Obviously, the text is up for discussion, which is why I'm posting. The one deviation I might like to make is when the FAQ applies to EA, Plus, Paid and Permanent accounts, in which case I'd suggest saying "This FAQ does not apply to Basic accounts." instead. As long as I'm going through the FAQs for a bit of a level name-cleaning, I'll add this disclaimer where it applies and remove redundant references thereafter.

Any objections to, or suggested alternatives for, the wording?

(no subject)

A small suggestion for FAQ 8 -- I want to preserve my writings about Kate and Ashley Olsen 4-evar!

The Export Tool page, I just realized, has that series of checkboxes for what you want to export -- and the one for 'Entries' is, for some reason, called 'Event'. Even though it's bolded, I'd really have no clue that event = entry.

I'm not sure the feasability of getting that checkbox renamed on that page (which would be ideal), so I'll just suggest changing the FAQ instead. Can we insert a line somewhere in the Export Tool section saying "use the checkboxes to select which parts of your entries you want exported, and ensure that you keep the Event checkbox selected as that is the body of the entry itself"... only something that doesn't such that much.

We don't have any mention of what the checkboxes either in the faq or on the export page itself, so adding that line in (with the further emphasis on the Event one) is probably a good thing.

Viewing tags.

FAQ 226 appears to be inaccurate in its section about viewing tags. It says that you can only view tags if you're using S2, but the three points under that heading about viewing tags all work in S1.

I think the sentence saying it's only available to S2 might be holdover from when that part of the FAQ also referred to seeing tags on the recent entries/friends view, which is still S2-only (I'm not sure if that part of the FAQ actually did say that (it's in another FAQ now)). I could be wrong though; I'm just guessing as to the reason. Anyone know of any reason the FAQ says what it does now?
