Why Can't I See My Changes
Being a member of LiveJournal, you have the ability to change certain style-settings on how you want your journal/community to look (see http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqcat=customize). You play around with all the different codes and settings, and after you made the changes, you want to see the fruits of your labor.
What do you get? No change.
You ask yourself, 'Okay, no change' and you try again only to get 'Okay, still no change.'
Again, you try to make changes stick, only to get even more frustrated and decided to take it out on your keyboard.
Finally, you decided the best way to go about this is to open up a support request (http://www.livejournal.com/support/submit.bml) and ask someone from the volunteer support group to explain.
There are some quick things you can try doing before submitting a request.
- make sure that you're clicking on "Save Changes" or save-type buttons
(note, during high-load situation on free-servers, changes are not evident until the data gets updated to all the free-servers. See http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=116). - clear your browser's cache
- Internet Explorer:
- Click on menu "Tools"->"Internet Options..."
- Click on "Delete Files..."
- Click on "OK"
- Click on "Delete Files..."
- Netscape Navigator/Communicator:
- Click on menu "Edit"->"Preferences"
- Click (to expand menu) on "Advanced"
- Click on "Cache"
- Click on "Clear Disk Cache"
- Click on "Clear Memory Cache"
- Click (to expand menu) on "Advanced"
- Internet Explorer:
- if you are free user, you might be hitting the servers during peak-operation and data requires time to be replicated to the other servers (see http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=116).
The above methods will solve most situations why changes can't be viewed and if you still can't get it to work, try submitting a request (http://www.livejournal.com/support/submit.bml) for additional help.
