The Rich Text Editor is a way of simplifying the use of HTML in entries while in the Update Journal page (http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml). It allows you to make text bold, italic, underlined, bigger or smaller, or a different color. It also allows you to make ordered and unordered lists, link to other websites, add an image, or create an lj-cut or an lj user tag. Rich Text also allows has undo and redo capability.
However, typing in HTML manually while in the Rich Text Editor does not work and will result in the HTML tags showing in your journal entry. If you wish to get out of The Rich Text Editor mode, simply click on the Update Journal link again and it will switch back to the normal Update journal page.
The Rich Text Editor requires that you have a JavaScript-enabled browswer and a browser that supports Rich Text to work properly.

Any suggestions? The second paragraph seems kind of awkward, but I'm not sure how else to say it.
