Updating FAQ#36 - Validation Errors

We've been getting a lot of support requests opened up lately about validation problems because the free database servers are behind in their replication. When that happens, new users get the following error message when they try to validate:

Error
One or more errors occurred processing your request. Please go back, correct the necessary information, and submit your data again.

* User not found.
* This confirmation URL was for a different email address. You cannot use it to validate your most recently set email address.

To address this problem I recommend we update FAQ #36 - Why are there errors when I try to validate? as follows:

There are a number of errors that could occur when attempting to validate your email address.

If you receive
Error
One or more errors occurred processing your request. Please go back, correct the necessary information, and submit your data again.

You cannot go to this page directly, you must have a registration URL to complete this registration.

Then it means you did not have the complete URL in the Location or Address window of your browser.

The URL LJ sends will look something like: (this is a null register; it will return a result you can't use)
        http://www.livejournal.com/confirm/501286.9ssksbn4aa2kr7h

If you are getting this error when you try to validate, try copy/pasting or typing the confirmation URL into your browser's address/location bar.

If you receive
Error
One or more errors occurred processing your request. Please go back, correct the necessary information, and submit your data again.

* User not found.
* This confirmation URL was for a different email address. You cannot use it to validate your most recently set email address.

This means that the data among the slave database servers have not been completely updated, so some of them don't know you've created an account yet.

Please wait 30-40 minutes, to allow the slave database servers time to catch up and update their data from the master database server. When the data has been updated, you should re-attempt to validate your account.

Also, E-mailed URLs do have an expiration time; if you don't use them within the limit, they will expire and another one will need to be issued. If this is the case, go to: http://www.livejournal.com/lostinfo.bml to have a new validation note sent to you.
