LJ etiquette?

A new user recently asked me about the etiquette norms of LJ (e.g. adding people to your friends list, posting comments in strangers' journals, using real names -- that sort of thing) and after failing to find anything in the FAQ, I started a discussion in my journal. If others think it would be useful, I could edit my post and fold in the feedback it's gotten so far and submit it to you folks. I won't be offended if you don't want something on this topic, but I figured I'd offer it. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes by posting here.
