FAQ 62 (What are comments? How do I enable/disable message boards? explains how to enable or disable comments for a whole journal, and mentions that if enabled globally, comments can still be disabled for individual entries. However, its explanation of that is easy to miss and cursory. It says:
The web interface allows you to change these settings as desired; it is also possible to edit entries to change one of the comment options.

FAQ 2 (How do I edit or delete a journal entry I wrote?) would need some tweaking too.
From there you can make the changes you want. To edit an entry, make the changes to the text and then click "Save Entry" to save your changes. You may preview your changes by clicking the "Preview" button, or spell check your entry by clicking the "Spell check" button.
