I just anaylsed LiveJournal's terms of service (Using MS-Word as well...) and got the following...

Counts
Words=3420
Characters=18942
Paragraphs=61
Sentances=105

Averages
Sentances per paragraph=2.5
Words per sentance=27.0
Characters per word=5.3

Readability
Passive sentances=18%
Flesch reading ease=26.7
Flesch-Kincaid reading scale=12.0

Flesch Reading Ease score
Rates text on a 100-point scale; the higher the score, the easier it is to understand the document. For most standard documents, aim for a score of approximately 60 to 70.

Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level score
Rates text on a U.S. grade-school level. For example, a score of 8.0 means that an eighth grader can understand the document. For most standard documents, aim for a score of approximately 7.0 to 8.0

So...

Well I then got a EZ1040 Tax form from the IRS and did the same thing...
(not at all an idea from CNN)

Counts
Words=963
Characters=4319

Readability
Passive sentances=5%
Flesch reading ease=60.6
Flesch-Kincaid reading scale=7.8

So what does it all mean??

Well basically it means the Tax form will be understood in a single reading first time by more people then would understand the Terms of Service.

Prehaps a read and review or at least a "This is what it means..." section could be in order?
