The Lost Information page will allow you to retrieve your username or reset your account's password.
When you request a lost password email, you will receive an email which will allow you to reset your password. Clicking on the link included in this email will reset your password and send the new password to you. For security reasons, it is not possible to have the system send you your original password, but you can change your password after it has been reset.
Lost username emails can only be sent to the email address currently associated with your account. Lost password emails can only be sent to the email address currently listed in your Personal Information, or an email address which was previously validated for your account.
When retrieving a password, if you do not remember which email address you used with the account you can leave the email section blank and the system will send the email to the currently listed address. You can then check all of your email accounts to see which account the email was sent to. If the email does not arrive in any of your accounts you can put in an email address in the field to determine whether the email address is capable of receiving the lost password email. If it is, the system will inform you that the lost password email has been sent. If the email address is not connected to the LiveJournal account, then the system will inform you that the email address entered is not valid. By this means you can determine which of your email addresses is capable of receiving the email to reset the password.
If you have determined that your email account should be being sent the email but you are not receiving it in your inbox, then you should resolve why you are unable to receive emails from LiveJournal. Once you have made your account able to receive emails, you should again request the lost password/username email.
The username and password retrieval system is entirely automated. LiveJournal staff and volunteers cannot access your username or password and send it to you. If you no longer have access to an email address which is authorized to receive this information, then you will not be able to regain access to your LiveJournal account. In this situation, you may wish to create a new account instead.
If you know your username and password but no longer have access to a currently listed or previously validated email address, you should change your email address and validate it immediately.
