That is, validation link is in the form of http://www.livejournal.com/confirm/xxxx.zzzz, and if the link is cut off before/at the dot, it's a "Page Not Found"; if it gets cut off after the dot, it's an "Invalid Validation Code" error.
Suggested change:
- Page Not Found or Invalid Validation Code: Compare the URL in your validation email with the one in your web browser's address bar to make sure they match exactly. Additionally, the link in the validation email expires after seven days.
OR:
- Page Not Found: Some e-mail clients may cut off the e-mail link when you click on it directly. Instead of clicking, copy and paste the link from the e-mail into your web browser's address bar.
- Invalid Validation Code: Compare the URL in your validation email with the one in your web browser's address bar to make sure they match exactly. Additionally, the link in the validation email expires after seven days.
(Actually, I can't really think of any good way to include "Page Not Found", because "Page Not Found" overlaps with "Invalid Validation Code", but the bit about the code expiring after seven days only applies to the latter error message.)
