password resets

faq211: removed

"Recent Password Reset: If you recently reset your password, try copying and pasting the new password directly from the email. Additionally, leave any spaces out of your highlighting because spaces will cause an error when entering your password."

since you no longer get temporary passwords

faq117

"You will then receive an email that will contain a link to reset your password; click on this link, and keep track of the password which is generated for you" -> "click on this link and change your password"

also removed "Change your LiveJournal password. Change the password on your LiveJournal account and make it as secure as possible." since it's no longer applicable at that point.

  1. Click on the reset password link included in the email.
  2. Receive an email with a new temporary password.
  3. Log in with the temporary password.
  4. Change your password by entering the temporary password in the Current Password field on the Change Password page. (Using anything other than the emailed temporary password will cause an error.)

replaced with:

For security reasons, a lost password email contains a link to reset your password, not your original password. This link will allow you to change your password at the Change Password page.
