FAQ 67: So, uh, the head of the username links to the profile.

It came up in IRC, and suddenly we realized that more people than we thought didn't know that the head of the <lj user=""> link goes to the profile.

So that should wind up somewhere; I figured FAQ 67 was the best place.

These link formats work as written if you are using the HTML Editor to post entries to your journal. If you are using the Rich Text Editor, you will need to type the link text first (site or username). Then, select that text and click the appropriate toolbar button (Insert/Edit Link or LiveJournal User) to generate the link.

When generating a link this way, the account name will link to the account's journal page, and the account type icon in front of the account name will link to the account's profile page.
