community userpics

Let's say a user with no default userpic posts to a community and does not specify a userpic. On the entry page, this will display as having no userpic.

If the "Use community userpics instead of poster's userpic" option is turned on, friends pages in both S1 and S2 will make all entries in communities use the community's userpic.

When that option is turned off, the userpic displayed depends on whether the friends page is in S1 or S2:

If the friends page is rendered through S1, that entry will fall back to displaying with the community's userpic (if it has one). If the friends page is rendered in S2, the entry will still display without a userpic.

Three FAQs (77 "What is a community?", 95 "What is a userpic keyword?", and 250 "How do I customized S1?") reference community userpics. 77 says "If you as the poster have no default userpic and do not use keywords to specify a userpic, the community's userpic will be shown." (and also links to 205, which has been hidden). 95 says "The only time a community's userpic will appear with a community entry is on your Friends page when the author of the post has no default userpic and did not select a specific userpic when posting the entry. It is not otherwise possible to post using the userpics of a community." 250 just says where you can set this option if you're using S1.

Since S1 is deprecated, I'd like to make 77 and 95 both reflect the S2 behavior (if and when it changes to reflect the S1 behavior, we can update the FAQs then). Then, since we're making 77 and 95 both say "this is how that works", we'd need to make 250 say "well, if you're using S1, this is how this feature works".

How does that sound?

Edit: Some drafts.

77- Existing text: "Community entries are associated with the poster's userpic. You cannot select from the community's userpics when posting entries, unless you upload some of those userpics to your own account. If you as the poster have no default userpic and do not use keywords to specify a userpic, the community's userpic will be shown. On your Friends page, you can either view the community's userpic or individual posters' userpics."

Change to: "Community entries are associated with the poster's userpic. You cannot select from the community's userpics when posting entries, unless you upload some of those userpics to your own account. You can choose whether a community's entries will display on your Friends page with either the community's userpic or the entry's poster's userpic on the Customize Journal page."

95- Existing text: "When posting an entry in a community, you can only choose from your own userpics, not those of the community. The only time a community's userpic will appear with a community entry is on your Friends page when the author of the post has no default userpic and did not select a specific userpic when posting the entry. It is not otherwise possible to post using the userpics of a community."

If you turn off the community userpics option, community userpics will show up for entries on your S1 Friends page when the author of the post has no default userpic and did not select a specific userpic when posting the entry."
